IT/BPM Week aims to build regional capacity to support the future growth of the industry. This three-day Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Management (BPM) industry awareness mission to Galle is organized by SLASSCOM Member Companies together with ADB, MoE and ICTA. Galle IT Week is the third of the SLASSCOM IT Week series where previous events were held in cities of Jaffna (2014) and Kandy (2016).

Primary objectives of 2018 IT/BPM Week in Galle are:

  • Encourage school students to select IT/BPM/Entrepreneurship as a future career
  • Raise awareness on importance of ICT among educators
  • Inspire the society and the educational ecosystem on importance of innovations

Educator workshop

Interactive workshop with 200+ school teachers and principals to share knowledge and experience on latest trends on technology and innovation. How entrepreneurship and startups change the dynamics of the industry and the methodical ways to inspire and guide students to think creatively will be important discussion points of this workshop.

Student Awareness

General awareness, inspiring 2500+ young minds to select IT/BPM as their future career. During this session, several young IT/BPM professionals will be on stage sharing their own story of career journey.

Technology for Girls

Specially designed session for 300+ girls to encourage them to select ICT as a future career. In parallel, a program is organised for the parents of girl students to raise awareness on the oppotunities in the ICT industry and importance of ICT education for girls.

Deep Dive Workshops

Hands-on workshops for 500 children focusing on Innovation (MakerSpace), Game Programming (Scratch), and Robotics (micro:bit). All material and equipments will be provided for the students. A certificate is awarded to the students participating this session.

Parent Awareness

Several industrial and acedemic resource persons will conduct interactive sessions with the parents to educate them to guide the young students into ICT. This session will happen in parallel to the Hands-on workshops of the students.

Innovation Exhibition
