SLASSCOM Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum Introduces ‘Start-up Sri Lanka’ Showcase
SLASSCOM, Sri Lanka’s national chamber for the ICT/BPM industry, through its Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum, has introduced ‘Start-up Sri Lanka’, a showcase series aimed at igniting entrepreneurship as part of the chamber’s plan to launch 1,000 start-ups by 2025.
Start-up Sri Lanka focuses on four key strategies; namely, fostering and nurturing startups to become successful internationally; strengthening and creating a cohesive ecosystem to support the start-up lifecycle; positioning Sri Lanka as a high-skilled, low-risk trial hub; and transforming young disruptors to become successful entrepreneurs.
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum — a key enabler of local startups — is set to launch the showcase series with the second session featuring MillionSpaces, Sri Lanka’s first (and for the longest time, only) platform that offers on-demand venue solutions, to discuss the topic of ‘Rewriting the Future of Work’ on Monday 28th of March 2022.
MillionSpaces is an instant booking platform for flexible workspaces and has etched its presence in the market at the peak of the coworking wave, and the showcase will highlight how the future of work is constantly changing for companies such as MillionSpaces.
The event will feature multiple well-known and experienced speakers from across industries, including Azhan Munas, Managing Director/Co-Founder of WORX; Semal Luthra, Co-Founder of HomeTree Coworking; Charitha Rasaputra, Founder of HUB9 Coworking; Nirojan Yogeswaran, Founder of Work Studio; and Chandi Dharmaratne, Vice President – Human Resources of Virtusa. The session will be moderated by MillionSpaces Founder Prasath Nanayakkara.
The panel of speakers will cover a number of topics, focusing on how flexible workspaces have changed the narrative in the post-pandemic world and how they have created opportunities for companies of all sizes to move their business forward. As industry experts, they will also elaborate on recent flexible workspace adoption trends, the secret sauce behind their success, and how they are playing a role in rewriting the future of work.
SLASSCOM Chairperson Sandra de Soyza, speaking on the showcase series, stated: “One of our key aspirations for 2025 is to launch over 1,000 startups in the country. We have been driven in our efforts to realise this goal, and the showcase series, we are certain, will help create a conducive environment for startups that want to grow their companies beyond expectations to learn, question, and experience first-hand. We are very excited about our new initiative and are certain it will prove beneficial.”
