The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AmCham), the leading forum for trade and investment between Sri Lanka and the United States of America and the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM), SLASSCOM the unified national IT-BPO industry association entered into a Cooperation Agreement by concluding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), on Thursday, March 5, 2009.


The MOU was signed by Mr. Ranjit Fernando, Chairman of SLASSCOM and Mr. Chullanté Jayasuriya, Executive Director of AmCham.


The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the areas of cooperation between both organisations in advancing and supporting the business interests of the respective Memberships of AmCham and SLASSCOM.


Both organisations will partner each other to promote business between Sri Lankan companies and American companies in the areas of Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (BPO), jointly focus on bringing in global best practices to Sri Lanka and support human resource capacity development.


SLASSCOM will act as a catalyst of growth of the Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encourage  research and innovation, and  support the creation of a progressive national policy framework.
