Sri Lanka Association of Software & Services Companies (SLASSCOM) acts as the catalyst of growth of the Sri Lankan IT and BPM industries by facilitating trade and business, propagating education and employment, encouragement in research and innovation, and supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework.

The objective of the collaboration with AWS Educate is to rapidly skill Sri Lanka’s workforce to compete both locally and globally in an emerging tech frontier. This collaboration with AWS was sought by the SLASSCOM leadership based on the Hot Skills Survey 2018 which concluded that Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and Big Data are the top trending areas globally.

This strategic and evolving collaboration will work towards transforming the education system by enabling it to produce a robust supply of future-proof digital talent for Sri Lanka.

The following cloud learning paths have been worked out for the students in Engineering & Non-Engineering courses across the universities & institutes in Sri Lanka.

Program Name: Cloud Literacy Program, Powered by AWS Educate

About the Program:
This course explores cloud computing models and Amazon Web Services (AWS) fundamentals. The program also covers the basic level of understanding of important cloud security concepts.

Learning Audiences:
- Cloud Literacy
- Any engineering/ polytechnic /non-engineering Student (preferably- 1st-year student)

Pre Requisites:
- Basic knowledge of Windows/ Linux operating systems
- Working knowledge of any web browser
- AWS Educate membership. Instructions will be provided by the college on how to register in the program.

Program Name: Cloud Computing Fundamentals, Powered by AWS Educate

About the Program:
Learn about the Amazon Web Service (AWS) solutions - including compute, storage, analytics, databases, networking, and developer tools – that companies large and small across the globe use to build their businesses.

Registered students will have access to self – paced content designed to introduce cloud computing technologies that drive innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, voice, and facial recognition, gaming, medical advancement, and more.

Learning Audiences:
- Engineering / Polytechnic /Non-Engineering students – 2nd year

Pre Requisites:
- Basic knowledge of Windows/ Linux operating systems
- Working knowledge of any web browser
- Understanding of Databases, Computer Architecture & Java Programming

Program Name: Foundation in Cyber Security, Powered by AWS Educate

About the Program:
As the world becomes more connected, security will continue to be a foundational element of technology. Cybersecurity specialists use their expertise to identify security risks and protect computer systems, networks, applications, and data. This program focuses on the skills and expertise cybersecurity specialists use to keep user information safe in the cloud, including network protocols, coding, and risk identification and management.

Learning Audiences:
- Foundation in Cyber Security
- 3rd year students from any engineering/polytechnic branch

Pre Requisites:
- Basic knowledge of Windows/ Linux operating systems and working with any browser
- Theoretical concepts of computer networks, ISO-OSI layers, and networking protocols
- AWS Educate Membership. Instructions will be provided by the college on how to register in the program.

Program Name: Basics of Machine Learning, Powered by AWS Educate

About the Program:
Learn about the diverse knowledge and skills machine learning scientists use every day, including distributed systems, programming and scripting, and data analytics.

Leaning Audiences:
- B.E / B.Tech , Final year Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics & Communications , B.Sc Computer Science 3rd year

- Knowledge of Java, Python, and Scala
- Knowledge of database concepts including relational and NoSQL Databases
- Experience with linear algebra, probability theory, calculus, calculus of variations, graph theory, statistics and probability, differential equations, mathematical statistics, optimization, regression and time series, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, Bayesian Modeling and fitting of a distribution

• The program enables students to build basic cloud computing skills. After successful completion, learners will receive an AWS Cloud Badge.
