A visiting US trade delegation led by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, Michael J. Delaney and Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary for Global Markets and Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service, Arun M. Kumar visited Orion City IT Park, Sri Lanka’s first IT park established as a privately owned venture with developed space for use by IT and IT enabled companies in Colombo last week.

The delegation met private sector representatives from the Sri Lanka IT and BPM industry to discuss trade and investment opportunities between both countries and avenues of developing the startup eco system in Sri Lanka through the involvement of US Embassy in Sri Lanka.

John Fleming, Principal Commercial Officer, US Consulate General, Chennai, India and the US Commercial Services Team Colombo attended the meeting along with Hariharan Padmanaban, CEO at SAKS Global, Madu Rathnayake, Executive Vice President, CIO and Head of Business Excellence and General Manager at VirtusaPolaris, Jeevan Gnanam, CEO and Director at Orion Development, Dr. Arul Sivagananathan, Managing Director at Hayleys Industrial Solutions, Dharshan Cooray, Executive Director of Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) and Asanga Amarakoon, Assistant Project Manager at SLASSCOM representing the Sri Lanka IT/BPM industry.
